I am a M.Sc. student under Dr. Mark Woodrey studying secretive tidal marsh birds across the Mississippi Gulf Coast. As an undergraduate at the University of Mississippi, I studied biology but fell in love with avian ecology. My passion for avian conservation and research led to my involvement with the Delta Wind Birds non-profit, Strawberry Plains Audubon Center, and the development of an Audubon campus chapter. I decided to continue on my path of avian conservation engagement in Mississippi and began my project monitoring breeding tidal marsh birds across the Mississippi Gulf. I ultimately want to contribute to the conservation of avian communities like marsh birds that are susceptible to urban development and climate change by generating population estimates, landscape associations, and by predicting the effects of sea-level rise on future populations.
